Week 2: 2D Design & Cutting
Assignment 1: Make a Box
As someone who enjoys sewing, I decided to take inspiration from sewing boxes with many different compartments, while still remaining practical. After looking at different tutorials online, I took a lot of inspiration from this tutorial. Originally, I wanted to use cardboard screws, but I had to switch to actual screws because cardboard was too finicky. Testing the limits of this material, I decided to add a lock that would block anyone from opening the lid unless they rotated it to the correct position. In the final construction, this only worked when very carefully calibrated and did not actually stop anyone from opening the box with enough force. Still, it did show that the mechanism worked. I also modelled the lid sketch after the designs from MakerCase.
Assignment 2: Fusion 360 Tutorial
I decided to follow tutorials for a bottle and then a Geneva mechanism.
Assignment 3: Fusion Modeling
I modelled a couch, a chair, and a sign.
